This year aspiring fashion journalists were able to win a trip to New York Fashion Week by entering an online competition from G-Star. All they had to do to become RAW Reporters was sign in with their Twitter, Facebook, YouTube or Flickr account, show off their talent, and gather lots of votes from their friends.
Today the winners are revealed: a Canadian tweeter, an Italian photographer, an American YouTube presenter and a Belgian Facebook fanatic will be sent to New York, and G-Star also handed out a couple of golden tickets to young bloggers Bryan Boy and Jessie Thorpe from Denimology.com. A special mash-up page on the G-Star site (sneak-peek attached) will go live on February 14, showing all the tweets, blogs, photos and videos from the RAW Reporters and celebrities at Fashion Week. The catwalk show will be streamed live on Facebook and the G-Star homepage, and viewers can give live feedback via an interactive buzzword tag cloud next to the stream.
In today’s connected world, social networking is the fastest way to find, and discuss, fresh trends and new styles. The RAW Reporter competition was the first time a fashion brand has invited social media reporters to broadcast show coverage through Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. Last week G-Star also announced a free iPhone app: the RAW City Guide New York, which will be updated throughout NYFW by RAW Reporters and the app’s users.
From its conception in 1989, G-Star has been known for its innovative style in the world of denim, consistent research work, eye for detail and elaborate treatment techniques. This results in authentic products that portray denim craftsmanship. Products with a distinctive design signature that add luxury to the raw character of denim.
